Our Handsome Soon to be Dr. Carter Accompanied by his Beautiful Wife Shelynne received His White Coat from the University of Utah School of Medicine-

Posted by PicasaThe White Coat Ceremony creates an important focus for students entering medical school. The ceremony impresses upon the students the doctorpatient relationship and encourages them to accept obligations related to the practice of medicine; to be excellent in science, compassionate, and lead lives of uprightness and honor. It emphasizes for students the physician's responsibility to take care of patients and to also care for patients. The message conveyed is that physicians should care as well as cure.

The class members and physicians present stood to recite the Oath of Hippocrates:

The Hippocratic Oath

I solemnly pledge to consecrate my life to the service of humanity. I will practice medicine with conscience and dignity. The health and life of my patient will be my first consideration.

I will hold in confidence all that my patient confides in me. I will maintain the honor and the noble traditions of the medical profession. I will give respect and gratitude to my deserving teachers.

My colleagues will be as my family. I will not permit personal considerations to interfere with my duty to my patients. I will maintain the utmost respect for human life.

Even under threat, I will not use my knowledge contrary to the laws of humanity. These promises I make freely and upon my honor.

When Dustin had the osteoblastoma on his ninth vertebral and underwent surgery with a team of skilled and caring surgeons at the University of Utah, I witnessed first-hand a love and knowledge for life that made the difference in the life of our Son and Family. I know in my heart that the University of Utah is beyond words the greatest blessing that ever happened to Dustin and our Family through such a grave and difficult time. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO Grateful that Bryce will soon be among the Great and Caring Doctor's of the world having gained his love for life and medicine at the University of Utah.

Two thoughts that were impressed upon my mind were:

"Keep your white coats open and keep your heart open as your coat is"

"A patient doesn't care how much you know until he knows how much you care"

Bryce has always wanted to be a Dr. and has SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much charisma and compassion for others as is evident in how he treats his Beautiful Wife Shelynne and his Llama Mama.
