The Carter Cabin on the south side of Navajo Lake was built by the loving hands of Grandad (my husband's dad) and my hard-working Sweetheart and other family members. When Dustin, our second son was just two years old my Sweetheart, Curtis would go up to the mountain with his Dad and work on the cabin. It took two years to finish the cabin and each time we go there my builders find other projects to do. His brother Chad designed the cabin along with the table and chairs inside. The rocks for the hearth were gathered at the creek bed.
One of our favorite things at the cabin is the famous cabin breakfast cooked by my amazing Sweetheart on the old cook stove; it doesn't get better than that. We also have an old fridge and of course the old piano that makes the cabin home. At night we use gas lights and flashlights and we all sleep together upstairs in the loft. For years we had three wheelers to comb the mountain and now we have "sweet" four wheelers to look for deer, turkey's and to enjoy the majestic breaks on trails that make us feel like we own the mountain. I love the changes of the seasons, the green trees and wild flowers of summer, the beautiful array of colors in fall and the white crisp snow in winter. Every Christmas we find our perfect Christmas trees that brings a part of our wonderful cabin home.
Our family cabin has been a great blessing for our family of seven boys, (one "sweet" boy is on a mission in heaven).
Sweethearts reflecting eternal love.

Another fun day at the cabin with the Shipps.
Stacia, Rex and their adorable family love our cabin too. Our children are soo lucky because they have two Mother's that love them as their own. Stacia and I are sisters from the start, friends from the heart. Wally, Blackie, and Niki are our children too just to tell you.
